Terms of Service
Last updated: May 14, 2026
The short version
TownBuzz is a free events aggregator for Metro Detroit. By using the site you agree to a few common-sense rules: be honest, don't spam, don't claim events you don't run, and understand that we're not the ticket vendor — if a show is cancelled or oversold, that's on the venue.
What TownBuzz is
TownBuzz is a community-focused website that aggregates public event listings across Metro Detroit cities and presents them in one searchable feed. Browsing is free and requires no account. An optional Google sign-in adds a few features (saved events, weekly digest email, organizer dashboard for verified events).
Organizers can buy a paid featured-event slot to promote their listing. That's the only paid product. Everything else stays free.
Acceptable use
Use TownBuzz reasonably. Specifically:
- Don't scrape the site at scale. Reasonable browsing is fine. Hammering the API or attempting to download the whole event database is not, and we'll rate-limit / block IPs doing so.
- Don't submit fake events, spam suggestions, or self-promotional content disguised as community events.
- Don't claim ownership of an event you don't actually run. The organizer claim flow exists for the actual event organizer; misuse will get your account suspended.
- Don't use the contact form, suggestion form, or any other write-back surface to send abusive content, threats, or spam.
- Don't attempt to circumvent the security or access controls of the site, including the auto-generated REST APIs.
We may suspend or remove access for anyone violating these rules. We don't owe anyone a forum and we won't host abuse.
Event listings — accuracy and ticket links
Event information on TownBuzz comes from venue websites, city calendars, ticketing platforms, and direct submissions. We update daily and dedupe aggressively, but listings can be wrong. Dates change, shows get cancelled, venues run out of tickets. Always confirm with the venue or ticket source before making travel plans.
When you click a "Get Tickets" link, you leave TownBuzz and visit a third-party site (Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, the venue's own page, AXS, etc.). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their pricing, fees, refund policies, or accessibility.
Spot a wrong listing? Use the "Report this event" link on any event page or email us via the contact page. We typically correct or remove flagged listings within a day.
Organizer accounts and paid placement
Organizers can claim an event they run through the claim flow. Claiming an event lets the organizer upload custom artwork, edit descriptions, and access an analytics dashboard. The claim flow requires verification that you're associated with the event.
Featured placement is paid: organizers can purchase a time-bound "featured" slot for an event, which surfaces the event more prominently on the home page and relevant city pages. Pricing is shown at purchase time. All payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms.
Refunds for featured placement: if your event is cancelled or removed for cause before the featured window starts, we refund the full amount. If it's removed during the window, we prorate. Featured slots aren't transferable.
Featured placement does NOT include editorial endorsement. Promoted events are clearly marked as "Featured" throughout the site.
Content ownership
You retain ownership of any content you submit — event descriptions, organizer profile copy, suggestion-form messages. By submitting, you grant TownBuzz a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the site and in associated emails (the weekly digest, contact confirmations) for as long as the listing is active.
Event metadata aggregated from public sources is not claimed as our intellectual property and is available for fair use. The site design, original written content (the evergreen sections on landing pages, About, this Terms page), code, and structure are TownBuzz's.
Disclaimers
TownBuzz is provided "as is." We don't guarantee uptime, completeness, or accuracy. We don't guarantee that any specific event you find here will happen as listed, that tickets will still be available, or that third-party links will be functional. We rely on the venue and the ticketing platform for ground truth.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TownBuzz is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site — including missed events, travel expenses, or ticket costs incurred based on inaccurate listings.
Termination
You can stop using TownBuzz any time. To delete your account, email us via the contact page from your registered email; see the Privacy Policy for retention details.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate the Acceptable Use section above. For paid organizers, terminations follow the refund policy in "Organizer accounts and paid placement."
Changes to these terms
We'll update these terms as the service evolves. When we change something material, we bump the "last updated" date at the top of this page and notify signed-in users in the next weekly digest. Continued use of the site after a material change constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be brought in state or federal courts located in Oakland County, Michigan.
