Michigan Stadium — known universally as The Big House — is the home of University of Michigan Wolverines football and the second-largest stadium in the world by capacity (107,601 official, with attendance regularly exceeding 110,000 on game days). The stadium opened in 1927 on the south side of the U of M campus in Ann Arbor and has been continuously expanded and renovated over the decades while preserving the sunken-bowl design that puts most of the seating below ground level.

The football season runs from late August through early December, with 6-7 home games per season. Notable annual rivalry games — Michigan vs. Ohio State (the last home game in even years), Michigan vs. Michigan State, Michigan vs. Notre Dame when scheduled — drive the highest ticket demand. Beyond football, The Big House hosts the occasional major concert (Beyoncé, Coldplay) and the National Hockey League's Winter Classic outdoor game in 2014, when the stadium was converted into an outdoor hockey rink for one of the largest crowds ever to attend a hockey game.

Practical notes: game-day parking is across the U of M south campus in golf course and lot configurations — expect $40-80 depending on proximity. The U of M operates shuttle services from outlying lots and Briarwood Mall. Gate 10 (the Tunnel) is the team's entrance — fans gather to see the tunnel walk. The stadium is dry on the field side (no alcohol in seating bowl). Pre-game tailgating runs throughout the campus and golf course in the hours before kickoff.
